1. Who runs this site

Whatastep.com (the “Site”) is a free, non-commercial website run by André Lopes, a private individual based in Portugal (“I”, “me”, “my”).

2. About these Terms

These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Site. When you first visit the Site, and again when you create an account, I’ll ask you to confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t use the Site or create an account.

3. The service

Whatastep.com is free. I don’t charge any fees, take any payments, or sell your personal data.

After creating a free account, you get access for 24 hours to the Full Quiz, which is made up of five quizzes:

  • Your Goals Quiz: assesses your goals
  • Your Topics Quiz: assesses the topics and issues that matter to you
  • Your Activities Quiz: assesses the types of activities that suit you
  • Your Place Quiz: assesses the environments where you are most productive
  • Your Personal Characteristics Quiz: assesses your personal preferences and personality

When you complete the Full Quiz, the Site generates a personal report based on your answers, designed to help you explore which professions may suit you.

Your report is shown on screen only once, at the end of the quiz. It is not saved to your account, and you won’t be able to view it again later. If you want to keep it, please take a screenshot of it before leaving the page.

After 24 hours, your access to the Full Quiz ends.

As this is a personal project, I may change, pause, or remove features of the Site, or close it entirely.

4. Your account

To create an account, you must be at least 14 years old. If you are under 18, please make sure a parent or guardian knows about and agrees to your use of the Site.

When you create and use an account, you agree to:

  • give accurate information
  • keep your password confidential
  • use the account yourself and not share it with others
  • let me know through the Contact Form if you think someone has accessed your account without permission

You can delete your account at any time by sending a deletion request through the Contact Form. Please use the email address registered to your account, so I can confirm the request is yours. I will delete your account within one month of your request, and your personal data will be deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.

5. About your quiz report

The quizzes and report are tools for self-reflection and career exploration. The report is generated automatically from your own answers and is meant to give you ideas and a starting point, not definitive conclusions.

It is not professional career guidance, psychological assessment, or any other form of professional advice. Please use your own judgement, and consider speaking to a qualified careers adviser before making important decisions about your education or career.

Your report is shown only to you. I do not share your answers or report with anyone else or use them to make decisions about you.

6. Acceptable use

When using the Site, you agree not to:

  • access or try to access accounts or data that don’t belong to you
  • test, probe, or attempt to breach the Site’s security
  • disrupt or interfere with the Site, for example by overloading it or introducing viruses or malicious code
  • create accounts automatically or in bulk, or use bots, scrapers, or other automated tools to access or copy the Site’s content
  • use the Site for any unlawful purpose
7. The Site’s content

All content on the Site, including the quizzes, questions, report templates, text, images, and design, belongs to me unless stated otherwise and is protected by copyright.

You may use the Site and your own report for your personal, non-commercial purposes, including saving, printing, or taking a screenshot of your report. You may not copy, republish, distribute, or sell the Site’s content, including the quiz questions, without my written permission, except where the law allows it.

8. Your personal data

I process your personal data in accordance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Portuguese data protection law. The Privacy Policy explains what data is collected, why, how long it is kept, and your rights.

I do not sell your personal data.

9. Suspension and termination

I may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly breach these Terms, or if your use of the Site puts its security or other users at risk. Where possible, I will tell you the reason first and give you a chance to respond.

You can stop using the Site and delete your account at any time.

10. Availability and liability

The Site is a free personal project. I do my best to keep it accurate, secure, and available, but I cannot guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free, or that all content will always be complete and up to date.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits my liability for intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

11. Links to other websites

The Site may contain links to other websites. I have no control over them and am not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

12. Changes to these Terms

I may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be published on this page, and the “Last updated” date at the top shows when they were last changed. The version in force when you use the Site is the one that applies to you. Changes will not apply retroactively.

These Terms are governed by Portuguese law.

14. General

If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid, the remaining parts still apply.
